Periodontal Surgery to Manage a Soft Tissue Ridge Defect in Preparation for a Fixed Prosthesis
If a soft tissue defect (1) is present in an area where a fixed bridge is planned, periodontal plastic surgical procedures can be performed to eliminate soft tissue concavities, thus making the final prosthesis much more aesthetic.
In this example, a large soft-tissue defect (1) was eliminated by using a connective tissue graft (2). Notice how the lip side concavity was changed to a convexity so that a final fixed bridge becomes indistinguishable from the natural teeth. These procedures are done under local anesthesia in our office with your comfort in mind.
