Ridge Width Augmentation
One of the prerequisites for successful dental implants is to have the implant surrounded by an adequate amount of bone. If additional bone width is needed, a number of bone regenerative procedures are available to increase this dimension prior to implant placement. These procedures are performed under local anesthesia in our office with your comfort in mind.
In this example, an implant is planned to replace the patient’s missing upper left lateral incisor. A narrow width of the ridge is present as noted by the concavity on the lip surface. Notice how this concavity is changed to a convexity after the ridge has been augmented. This widened ridge will make an ideal ridge for successful implant placement and a final implant-supported crown.
